Sequoia shared their go-forward strategy (which has been approved by the board)

  • 3 components where speed and scale of emission reduction is primary focus:

    • 1) energy transition, 500GW by 2030 (focus on renewables and increased efficiency);

    • 2) Land incl agriculture / food systems / forestry

    • 3) Global cooperation (green jobs, green economy)

  • Within ag:

    • Land and energy intersection: land planning like agrovoltics, solar water pumps / PM Kusum scheme, coal and mining; climate justice and advancing renewables 

    • Methane: food loss, improve livestock health and nutrition. win-win, improve livelihood and reduce GHG. livestock opp is in dairy which is organized (Gujarat, Rajasthan, TN are major states)

    • Land restoration (sequester carbon, focus on MRV). Create initiative to kickstart restoration in central india. Make ag more viable that improves farmer income and reduces ecological damage. MP and Chhattisgarh are focus states, work at a landscape level

    • Cross cutting: modeling, comms, global cooperation, green jobs / economics / fiscal challenges / finance

  • DG shared go forward strategy; advisory, access to finance and data are mutually reinforcing elements that create more market readily farmer organizations

    • Address the awareness and accessibility challenges

  • Sequoia to introduce DG to CLASP which is launching a fund to help farmers purchase energy efficient farm equipment
