• Sowing date has huge impact on yield potential

• Farmers typically wait to start rice nurseries until monsoon rains begin but this means they don’t transplant until late July which limits yield potential for that crop and then delays wheat which has a knock on effect on wheat yield potential

• Farmer impact: lower yield = lower income

• System level: Food security, higher yield scale emissions
