Connector (p2p connector) | A standalone edge application which manages containers that interface and process data and connect to other connectors. |
Container | A container is a standard unit of software that packages up code and all its dependencies so the application runs quickly and reliably from one computing environment to another (in FS docker and container is used interchangeably). |
Core | Core is the group anchored by Digital Green maintain the code base of FarmStack and maintain the governance framework to onboard stewards. |
Fraunhofer Institute | A not for profit organisation based out of Germany that is the convener of the IDSA. |
FS Participant | A software that is run by the participant organisations of FarmStack network performing data exchange. The software helps onboard various users at the participants. The software helps create connectors through a web browser by the users. The software helps find and connect to different connectors in the network. |
FS Steward/ Central | A software that is run by a nodal agency who onboards participants provisioning to them FS participant. They maintain the data exchange network by monitoring network and running important services like issuing certificates and maintaining network level details of connectors. |
IDSA | International Data Spaces Association - a group that maintains the information model, reference architecture of connectors and reference implementations. |
IDSCP | A communication protocol developed by IDSA that is used to encrypt and transfer data between two connectors. |
Information model | The Information Model is an RDFS/OWL-ontology covering the fundamental concepts of the International Data Spaces (IDS), i.e. the types of digital contents that are exchanged by participants by means of the IDS infrastructure components. |
Node/ Participant | In the FarmStack network a node represents a set up owned by some organisation that runs FarmStack participant software. |
Usage control | The ability to control the usage of data in a data sharing agreement that restricts the usage of data in a certain way only. |
Usage policy | A policy created by the participants to exercise usage control. A usage policy is a software artefact (json-ld in the current implementation). |
