Program Implementation Construct- Farmstack (ON)
The objective of this document is to highlight the key program Implementation components.
It is the first attempt to build the implementation program, ground up along with program team, with use case as the starting point. This was build in collaboration with @Narendra Kandimilla (Unlicensed) , @Jyothi, @Yashoda.
Inviting @Kunal Tiwari (Unlicensed) @Krishnan Pallassana (Unlicensed) @Vineet Singh @Gautam Mandewalker to add their inputs.
Adding : @Andrew Hicks (Unlicensed) @Razak K M @Krishnan Pallassana (Unlicensed)
Starting point: This Implementation is being planned in same 3 mandals as Saagu Baagu
Project output | Existing | To be added | Deadline | Concern | Budget Impact |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
40-50 CRP trained and equipped with KDE | 25 CRP & 3 MLE | 15-20 CRP & 1 MLE (Currently the Farmer/CRP is about 400, which with addition of extra CRP/MLE will help decrease these, since sample collection for quality and physical assessment will be managed by this work force | Sep end for identification and selection of CRP | CRP yet to receive fund; resolution in progress by govt agencies
As per the understanding the payment of CRP will only be done till the end of Jan 2023 | Under Saagu Baagu the payment to CRP will only be till the end of Jan 2023. The scope of project is till May 2023. Additional budget 20 CRP X 8month X 6000 per month + 25 CRP X 4 month X6000+ 1 MLEX12000 per monthX 8 month + 3 MLE X12000 per month X 4 month = 18 Lacs |
Chilli farmer (5000 data on KDE) | 7125 (some data is yet to be updated due to data sync issue) | NONE | End of Sep | it is to be noted that till only 1050 farmer has participated in soil sampling and the soil report is delayed due to requirement of local university certification of the machine by Krishitantra. Hence advisory is delayed |

Additional details on execution
Action items | Details | Budget |
---|---|---|
Training of new CRP | KDE and Farmer interaction | 15000 |
Refresher training (to include additional feature ) | KDE update | 15000 |
Quality estimation exercise | Agnext | 15000 |
Physical quality testing training so that CRP can do physical testing of sample | To be trained by Agnext, we will facilitate | 15000 |
Sample collection | It is important to collect at least 4000 farmers chilli sample ( 2000 form Saagu Baagu + 2000 additional) Hence it is imported to support CRP with an incentive of 30 INR per sample | additional budget for ON Farmstack project 30X2000 = 60,000/- We aspire to make the farmer at least pay for the sample collection cost. Sample labelling should be managed in a way that farmer get their sample back along with agnext report within 48 hours of sample collection. We can start with this but would drop the idea if we see that for first time they are not even ready to pay for sampling picking cost |
Testing Infra | Physical sampling can be done @50 per day and chemical sampling can be done @30 sample per day. Physical parameter testing machine available is 4 unit (for this region), hence it can manage only 4 X 50 sample per day X 48 days (over 2 month), which is greater than 11K sampling in 2 month period. However we need to have 1 additional machine in case there is a breakdown
Chemical analysis @30 per day X 48 days over 2 month x 2 machine can only manage 2880 samples. Hence we need 1 more chemical analysis equipment for this area itself |
Ideally Agnext should bear the cost of machine and we should bear the cost of only the sampling cost basis the negotiated cost per sampling. However , in case of any issue we might have to include in budget for 1 physical analysis and 1 chemical analysis equipment |
Run time management of program success | it is important to know on a dashboard how many samples were collected from farmer and how many sample have been received by Agnext. This data should also be generated at our end and Agnext has agreed to supply this data on daily basis. Also sample will first get collected, physical parameters are done and then same sample will be sent for chemical test. | Here the budget might go to additional product and tech intervention , but which is already included in the personnel section of the budget sheet |
Planning for successful output - better market linkage | If we consider 4000 farmer for quality sampling , which is a good enough sample size to create a visible impact , and approx each farmer on an average does 2 acres and yield is 2 MT per acre, we are talking about a total produce volume of 2X2X4000= 16000 MT. This is a huge volume for Kalgudi to manage. We want at least 40-50 percent of the farmer who had done the quality test to use that for better market access. Please note that in the existing scenario almost 40-50 percent of the farmers are taking input loans from commission agent ( 24 per cent per annum interest) and they are obliged to sell the produce back to them | Here we need to allocate some budget for

Additional Impact (Aspirational)
Identify one MLE (preferably women)who can become an aggregator
Layering other initiatives on the same use case to build on impact- Aspirational
Provide for storage, packaging and distribution cost to any women SHG or MLE women or FPO within the state or district to enable them in creating a B2C brand (DFN Budget??, but can be optional).
Can we get the data in some form (XLS, google sheet etc.,) while we work on the KDE redesign?
